On Tuesday, August 27th, Rabbi Eric Cytryn came to our Senior Club with guitar in hand and lyrics on paper. We had an enjoyable afternoon joining him in song.
On Wednesday, August 28th, we did some truly amazing projects in our much-looked-forward-to afternoon of art. After seeing our show, which will be held in the Spector Lounge starting on September 25th, I believe many of you will want to sign up, if we are fortunate enough to once again have this Artist-in-Residency program with our extremely talented mentor, Cheryl Kugler.
To end off the month on a good note (pun intended), on Thursday, August 29th, we had a delightful treat. One of our very own Sr. Club Members, Ann Weiss, played a wonderful selection of tunes on the piano. She too, came equipped with lyrics for some of the tunes so that we would be able to have a sing-along. We're hoping Ann will return in the not-too-distant future.
The month of September couldn't have had a better start. Tuesday, September 3rd, began with a lunch of Shepherd's pie, which was worthy of being on the front page of any culinary magazine, as well as a treat to our palettes. Kudos once again to our Chef Norman Gras. After lunch we had some good discussions led by Jeff Jacobs. We offered our opinions on who is to blame for the opioid crisis as well as high prices of drugs. We are looking forward to next month's topic which is ??? (come to the meeting and find out!!!). As is usual on Tuesday after lunch and the program that follows, many of us stay to play Mah Jongg or Farkle. For the first time we actually had two tables of Mah Jongg players. If you passed by the Mary Sachs on any given Tuesday, you would be privy to the laughter emanating from the players.
On September 5th, our favorite dietitian, Pat Dodd, gave us the scoop on the new nutrition labels. She came prepared with a diverse selection, from, I believe, soup to nuts, showing the changes that will be coming to labels.
It's always a learning experience coupled with fun when Pat comes.
