CEO Letter 7.16.21

By Jenn Ross

It is such a pleasure to be back at Green Hills with our community. Make sure to visit when you can – the pool and surrounding grounds are a perfect respite from this extremely hot summer on a day off, as an alternate remote work space, and beyond.  Many thanks to the hardworking team whose tireless efforts made this possible: Bruce, Lori, Terri, MarkJoe, George, and Jack!

Any opportunity to see JCC Summer Camp at Green Hills in action is exciting.  Last month,  JCC Association’s JResponse Director Mark Young visited and toured our JCC and spent the afternoon with us at Green Hills.  He taught a session on resilience to our older campers participating in this summer’s leadership program.  This session gave campers, and adults including myself, an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and uplifting moments, and provided strategies for dealing with the hard moments.

Our Sunday Funday events have been a hit. In June, thirty-four seniors joined us for a boisterous session of bingo and our PJ Library families swam together and enjoyed story time. Our July program brings together our Brenner Family ELC families for an afternoon of swim and fun.  Even if you aren’t at Green Hills for one of these programs, any time spent at Green Hills is going to be fun and memorable.

Thank you to Lori, Terri, MarkJoe and all of our lifeguards, counselors, and CITs for bringing back the magic at Green Hills. Visit www.jewishharrisburg.org/summer-snapshots-2021 for photos from Camp throughout the summer.
